Mhow Fort Or Kajligarh Fort
Indore is famous for its culture and also its Holkar Dynasty. The Holkar dynasty built many temples, forts etc. during the Holkar period. Mhow is one of the forts made by the Holkar.
Mhow Fort is also known as Kajligarh Fort. This fort was built in the Holkar Era. This fort was built by the Maharaja Shivajirao Holkar for hunting and horse riding. This fort is also famous for its mysteries.
History Of Mhow Fort
According to the Treaty of Mandsaur, signed in 1818, the responsibility was placed in the hands of the East India Company to support an area force and to protect against foreign enemies, to maintain the inner treasury of Malhar Rao Holkar’s territories. Due to which, Malhar Rao Holkar agreed to give some place of protection, which is called Mhow Fort.
The Mhow Fort covered an area of about four hectares. This large area was used to store weapons and shells belonging to the Mhow garrison. During the freedom struggle in 1857, the Bengal army at Mhow confronted and raised arms to revolt against the British. Most of the British men were killed and the ones who survived took the shelter in Mhow Fort. They remained in the fort for nearly a month and rescued only when the other English troops under the command of a Brigadier General Stuart Mhow of Aurangabad entered the fort.
Old Durga And Shiv Temple
There are temples of Maa Durga, Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman inside the fort. This place is visited by a large number of devotees on the Navratri Festival and Shivaratri.
Precautions
You have to visit this historical fort but also you have to take some precautions. This fort is built in a dense forest, so you have to take some precautions here. You never go to a deserted place. And visit this place in a group.
You have to complete your visit this place before 5 o’clock or you may have to leave this place before 5 o’clock.
Carry some food, water with yourself because don’t have good facilities of these things.

It is great to know about the timing of any place before visit. This place is open all the days of the week at Morning 7 AM To 5 PM.
